As I was reading “Of Our Spiritual Strivings” & “The Sorrow Songs,” by W.E.B. DuBois, I was struck by how relevant the material still is to contemporary times. Although W.E.B. Du Bois died over 50 years ago in 1963, just as the Civil Rights movement was in its prime, a lot of the issues he pointed out still exist vibrantly in today’s society.

Katarina Cruz recently graduated from Amherst College with a Bachelor’s Degree in English. While at Amherst, she cultivated a special interest in exploring the Digital as a means of better thinking through social structures. Having concentrated in performance studies, she is also interested thinking about the bodily interpretation of social structures through discipline and conditioning.
